Buyer and Add-On Information

Thank you for your interest in being a buyer during our market livestock sale. We hope that you find all the information you need to help you understand the auction process prior to your arrival. Keep in mind we are a 501 C4 and all of your purchases and/or add-ons are tax deductible. If you find that you need further clarification, please feel free to reach out to the fair office or the sale chairman. Listed below are just a few options for participating in supporting the market livestock exhibitors of the Sumter County Fair.

Buying Options
  1. Keep Option- Win the auction for a market animal. This can be a split-purchase with another registered buyer. Assign the animal to your chosen processor that is present, your processor will transport the animals to their facility and they will contact you when your product is ready for pick up.
  2. Buy Back Option- Send your market animal to buy-back. This means your animal will go to the buy back purchaser. They will take the animal for the price determined prior to the start of the sale. That amount will be deducted from your invoice. The amount of each species buy back price will be announced prior to the sale.
  3. Resale Option- Donate your animal back to the Sumter Fair Association to be auctioned off at the end of the sale. The proceeds from the resale auction will be distributed as a Add-On according to your selection on the resale buyers form found below. This form will be given to you during the auction to complete. Below is an example of the form you will be given.
All livestock sold must leave our facility with a U.S.D.A approved processor. All purchases can be paid for the night of the sale. The copy of your invoice is your first bill and interest will be added after 45 days of the sale.

If you would like to be a part of supporting our market livestock exhibitors but do not want to purchase an animal we have options for you also. You can make a flat dollar amount or by the pound donation to your selected exhibitors, these donations are considered add-ons. Listed below are a few options for applying add-ons to the market livestock exhibitors of the Sumter County Fair.

Add-On Options
  1. Across the Board Add-Ons- This means you are donating money to every exhibitor of the market livestock program. This includes the alternate exhibitors who did not make the show due to space restrictions. As well as the sifted exhibitors who did not meet the minimum requirements to make the show and sale. This option will give you recognition on our buyer's boards we hang in the Cow Palace and Expo 5.
  2. Individual Exhibitors Add-Ons- During the week of the fair and sale we will provide a list of all of our exhibitors by the species they are selling. You can go through the lists and designate money to each individual exhibitor you would like to support for any amount you see fit.
  3. Individual Species Add-Ons- If you have a passion for a certain species in our livestock program you are welcome to apply add-ons to those you choose. (Lamb, Steer, Swine)
  4. Graduating Senior Add-Ons- Want to support graduating seniors? We will be glad to provide a list of those exhibitors to you when you are filling out your add-on forms.
  5. Alternate Exhibitor Add-Ons- Unfortunately, we have space restrictions and only have room for so many market animals to show and sale. This means we can have alternate exhibitors who have completed their projects but did not make the show and sale. Add-ons are a great way to help fund their projects expenses.
  6. Sifted Exhibitor Add-Ons- Our exhibitors are given a set of rules at the beginning of their project with minimum requirements to qualify for the show and sale. Each year we have exhibitors who are unable to meet those requirements. These unmet requirements can be under weight, over weight, horn length, manageability, unsheared lambs etc. These youth are still considered exhibitors because they checked their animal in and completed a record book making them eligible for the sifted add-on list.
Keep in mind that 100% of all add-on money goes to the exhibitors. We do not retain a percentage of these funds.

Please reach out if you need any clarification of the information found above. We are so thankful to have your support towards the youth participating in the amazing Sumter County Fair.

Remember Auction starts at 11:00 a.m. on March 8, 2025, keep those hands held high!

We will see you there!
